Our long history [shortened].

The history and cycle-culture of Harry Perry Cycles can be traced directly back to 1908 when the Blackett Brothers first opened a bicycle shop - Excel Cycles - in Cross Street, Woolwich, South East London. In 1909 they moved their flourishing business to 26 Woolwich New Road where it remained trading until 1983. The late Harry Perry, came to work at the Blackett brother's shop in the role of general manager in 1921, a position he retained until becoming the proprietor of the shop in 1955. The current owner Paul Mepham, started work with Harry in 1964 as chief mechanic and upon Harry's eventual passing in 1974, took over the business - in partnership with his wife Kath. They chose to rename the business in tribute to Paul's mentor and late boss. In 1983 the shop moved to number 8 Wellington Street where the business continued to thrive before ultimately expanding to their current premises in Macbean Street.
